Most wonderful time of the year returns with Christmas on John Street event
Santa Claus is coming to Singleton Town Centre as Christmas on John Street makes its COVID-safe return on Friday 10 December 2021 from 6-9pm.
The hallmark of Singleton’s events calendar has become the unofficial launch of the festive season, as John Street is overtaken by live entertainment with street performers including bouncing elves and clowns; Singleton Town Band; dance performers, food trucks; wine and beer stalls from Broke Fordwich and Around Hermitage Pokolbin; and more than 60 market stalls alongside Maker’s Alley with kids’ activities including jumping castles, balloon twisting, face painting, and a petting zoo from Sweet Valley Baby Animals.
But of course the highlights will be a visit from the jolly man himself with free professional photos with Santa on offer at Singleton Rotary Club’s North Pole Grotto, and fireworks – supported by Yancoal – to cap off all the festivities at Rose Point Park.
Vicki Brereton, Singleton Council’s Director Organisation and Community Capacity said it was well and truly time to spread some Christmas cheer and bring the community together again after bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the much-loved event from going ahead the past two years.
“After another unusual and challenging year, we all need a little festivity more than ever and Christmas on John Street is the perfect way to raise community spirit in our town centre,” she said.
“And with live entertainment, community group performances through to jolly St Nick himself, the line-up for this year’s event is a demonstration that that spirit is well and truly alive in Singleton,” she said.
“Retailers will also be open for late night shopping so you can check off all the items on your Christmas list.
“But best of all is the sense of the spirit of the season – it’s a great occasion for people to celebrate finally coming together again during the most wonderful time of the year, as well as everything that’s great about Singleton.”
Christmas on John Street is a COVID-safe event. As per NSW Government guidelines, people who are not fully vaccinated will be unable to attend this event. Double vaccination status will need to be shown to event officials prior to entry.
