Show Dad and local businesses you care this Father’s Day

18 August 2020

With only a few weeks until Father’s Day, sons and daughters across Singleton are being encouraged to remember to shop local as well as Dad in the countdown to 6 September.

In an ongoing partnership to promote local businesses and the Spend in Singleton program, Mayor of Singleton Cr Sue Moore and Singleton Business Chamber president Sue Gilroy caught up with John Street business owner Jessie Read at Ranch House for a spot of retail therapy – and some browsing for Father’s Day gift ideas.

And if you’re not quite sure what Dad needs, let him treat himself with a Spend in Singleton gift card that he can use at more than 100 businesses including places to shop, dine, indulge and fuel up.

“Singleton has grown into a destination for boutique shopping and dining, and with Father’s Day just around the corner there’s a great selection of retailers sure to have something for every dad,” Cr Moore said.

“It’s an understatement to say it’s been a tough five months since COVID-19 restrictions were introduced, impacting families who may not have been able to see each other and business people forced to close during the height of the restrictions.

“Father’s Day is an opportune time to show all fathers how much they are appreciated, and to boost local businesses that are open and ready with a range of Father’s Day gift ideas to suit every kind of dad.

“But if you do have a dad who’s hard to buy for, you can pick up a Spend in Singleton gift card and treat Dad to treat himself at more than 100 businesses covering everything from golf, chainsaws, dining and wine.”

As well as shopping, Ms Gilroy said Father’s Day was also a great reason to visit the smorgasbord of restaurants, cafes and cellar doors across the Singleton local government area.

“With a lot of people choosing to stay close to home, we are truly spoilt with the range of dining options and wineries that are literally minutes from our back door,” she said.

“It’s a great reason to take Dad out for a coffee, a drink, a meal or a bottle of wine – and there are literally endless options for families of all ages.

“Pick up a Spend in Singleton gift card and choose from one of the many eateries, wineries and pubs involved in the program and make Father’s Day a special occasion for Dad and our local businesses.”

Spend in Singleton gift cards are available from the Albion Hotel Singleton; BLISS Skin Beaut-ique, Club Singleton, Foodworks Singleton Heights, The Horse and Jockey Hotel, Hunter Floral Studio, Singleton Business Chamber, Singleton Diggers (Alroy Complex and York Street), Singleton Physiotherapy and Allied Health, and Wattaka Café.
